During his ongoing three-day visit to the United States, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi spoke to the Indian diaspora in Dallas, Texas, emphasizing his vision for Indian politics rooted in “love, respect, and humility.”
In his address, Gandhi outlined his mission, stating, “As Leader of Opposition, my role is to infuse the values of love, respect, and humility into Indian politics and across all political parties.”
Addressing the audience, Gandhi highlighted the shared values between the Indian diaspora and his vision for India. “I am speaking to Dallas, and who are you? You are people who have come from India. The values I talk about—respect, humility, and the principles enshrined in our Constitution—are deeply embedded in you. You came to this country not with arrogance but with humility and love.”

Gandhi also underscored the significance of the India-US relationship, noting, “The US needs India, and India needs the US. You are the bridge between your old home and your new home. Bring the ideas of India to the US and the ideas of the US to India.”
Drawing parallels between India and the US, Gandhi remarked, “Our national anthem mentions all our states equally, without ranking them. The Constitution clearly states that ‘India, that is Bharat, is a Union of States,’ much like the United States. We share the fact that we are the two largest democracies and unions of states.”
In his speech, Gandhi took a critical stance against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting, “The RSS promotes the notion that India is a singular idea, but we believe it is a collection of diverse ideas. Everyone should have the opportunity to participate and dream, regardless of caste, language, religion, tradition, or history.”
Gandhi continued, “This struggle was clearly demonstrated in the elections when millions of Indians recognized that the Prime Minister was undermining the Constitution. The principles of our Constitution—respect for languages, religions, traditions, and caste—are the foundation of modern India.”
His comments come at a pivotal moment as Gandhi seeks to galvanize support from the diaspora while opposing the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India.
In his concluding remarks, Gandhi noted a shift in public sentiment, stating, “The fear of the BJP has diminished. Immediately after the election results, it was clear that no one in India feared the BJP or the Prime Minister. These are significant achievements, not of Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party, but of the Indian people who stand firm against attacks on our Constitution, our religion, and our states.”
Gandhi’s speech reflects his ongoing effort to build international support and critique the current Indian government’s policies.
