Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp offensive against the RJD-Congress-led Mahagathbandhan during a massive election rally in Araria district, accusing them of mocking Bihar’s revered traditions and fostering ‘Jungle Raj’ during their rule.
Invoking ‘Chhathi Maiya’, one of Bihar’s most sacred deities, the Prime Minister criticised the Opposition for allegedly belittling the festival by calling it a ‘drama’.
Addressing a sea of supporters, he asked, “Will you accept anyone referring to Chhathi Maiya as drama? Will you accept anyone insulting Chhathi Maiya?” His remarks drew a resounding response from the crowd.
Taking a swipe at what he termed ‘naamdars’, a veiled reference to dynastic leaders such as Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, PM Modi accused them of showing contempt for spiritual beliefs and disrespecting sacred traditions such as the Maha Kumbh and Lord Ram.
“They used to mock the Maha Kumbh, a festival that draws millions of devotees from around the world. They don’t believe in Lord Ram, they didn’t visit Ayodhya, nor did they attend the Pran Pratistha,” he said.
The Prime Minister further questioned why Opposition leaders avoided visiting temples dedicated to Maharshi Valmiki, Mata Sabri, and Nishad Raj near Ayodhya, suggesting it reflected their disregard for the backward and Dalit communities.
PM Highlights NDA’s Developmental Work in Bihar
Contrasting his government’s performance with the RJD’s rule, PM Modi said that the NDA had lifted Bihar from decades of stagnation.
“During the 15 years of Jungle Raj, there were zero highways, zero bridges, zero sports complexes, and zero tourist circuits,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister listed major projects undertaken under the ‘double-engine government’ since 2014, including IIT Patna, IIM Bodh Gaya, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Darbhanga (under progress), National Law University, IIIT Bhagalpur, and four new central universities.
“Bihar’s development has gained fresh momentum in the last decade,” PM Modi said, urging voters to reject the politics of dynasty and division for a future built on faith, progress, and empowerment.
