On Wednesday, in his first comments following the Congress party’s debacle in the Haryana Assembly elections, Rahul Gandhi pledged to bring complaints regarding the counting process to the attention of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The Congress leader acknowledged the unexpected results, stating that the party is actively reviewing the situation.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he said, “We are analyzing the unexpected results in Haryana. We will inform the Election Commission about the complaints coming from various assembly constituencies.”

Gandhi extended his gratitude to the people of Haryana and recognized the hard work of the party’s grassroots workers.

“A heartfelt thank you to all the residents of Haryana for their support and to our valiant workers for their tireless efforts. We will continue this struggle for rights, social and economic justice, and truth, and we will keep raising your voice,” he further asserted.

He also expressed appreciation for the voters in Jammu and Kashmir, where the National Conference-Congress alliance secured a significant victory.

Additionally, Rahul Gandhi stated, “Heartfelt thanks to the people of Jammu and Kashmir – the victory of INDIA in the state is a victory for the Constitution and a victory for democratic pride.”

Congress Leaders Express Shock Over Haryana Election Results; Cite Manipulation & Intimidation

Earlier, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh had voiced his disbelief over the Haryana election results, which he claimed did not reflect the public sentiment or the reality on the ground.

“The results are totally unexpected and surprising. It goes against what the people of Haryana were seeking — a mandate for change and transformation,” Ramesh said, suggesting that intimidation at polling stations contributed to the Congress party’s losses in previously strong constituencies.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera shared similar sentiments, describing the election outcome as ‘a victory for manipulation and a defeat for democracy’.

The ruling BJP secured a majority in the Haryana Assembly by winning 48 seats, up from 40 in 2019, while the Congress party managed to secure only 37 seats in the 90-member Assembly.

The results have sparked significant internal discussions within the Congress about strategies for future elections.
