Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday, shortly after securing a significant win in the state Assembly elections.
This meeting took place following Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s announcement that Saini would lead the state again, though the final confirmation awaits the BJP’s parliamentary board decision.
A day prior, PM Modi congratulated Saini on the BJP’s third consecutive victory in Haryana, with the party securing 48 out of 90 seats.
The Congress, their closest competitor, managed to win 37 seats.
PM Modi Hails BJP’s Historic Victory In Haryana, Thanks Voters For Breaking 5-Year Cycle
Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters, PM Modi praised the people of Haryana for their faith in the party’s governance model.
“Truth has triumphed in the land of Gita. The development won in the land of Gita. Good governance won in the land of Gita. People from every caste, every class have voted for us,” PM Modi declared.
He also highlighted how the voters broke a long-standing pattern in the state, which historically saw changes in government every five years.
PM Modi further asserted, “The people of Haryana have created a new history. So far, 13 elections have been held in Haryana. In 10 of these elections, the people of Haryana changed the government every 5 years. But what the people of Haryana have done this time is unprecedented. This is the first time that a government which has completed two terms of five years each has got a chance again in Haryana.”
The Prime Minister extended his thanks to BJP workers for their relentless effort and emphasized the pivotal role Chief Minister Saini played in the success.
“This victory reflects not just our party’s vision but also the immense hard work of our team and the leadership of our humble Chief Minister,” he further said.
In response, CM Saini deflected the praise back to PM Modi, asserting that the Prime Minister’s leadership was the key to overcoming anti-incumbency sentiments and defying exit polls to achieve a remarkable third term in Haryana.
