In a major push for infrastructure and skill development, Prime Minister will virtually inaugurate a series of significant projects in Maharashtra on Wednesday, collectively valued at more than Rs 7,600 crore.
One of the key highlights will be the upgradation of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur.
With a project cost of approximately Rs 7,000 crore, this development is likely to significantly boost the region’s growth, particularly in industries such as manufacturing, aviation, tourism, logistics, and healthcare.
Additionally, the revamped airport is likely to be a vital gateway for the Vidarbha region and a cornerstone of Nagpur’s economic development.
In addition, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation for a new integrated terminal at Shirdi Airport, which will cater to the religious tourists visiting this prominent pilgrimage site.
The terminal, estimated to cost Rs 645 crore, will include facilities inspired by the spiritual essence of Sai Baba’s neem tree.
The expansion however aims to accommodate increasing footfalls, offering world-class amenities to millions of visitors.
In line with the government’s commitment to accessible healthcare, PM Modi will also operationalize 10 new government medical colleges across Maharashtra, spanning cities such as Mumbai, Nashik, and Amravati, among others.
These institutions will not only increase the number of undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats but will also bring specialized healthcare services closer to the people.
Indian Institute Of Skills To Unveil In Mumbai – A Major Step Toward Skill Development
Another major project to be unveiled is the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai.
The institute, established in collaboration with the Tata Education and Development Trust and the government, will offer advanced training programs in fields like artificial intelligence, robotics, industrial automation, and data analytics.
This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of making India the ‘Skill Capital of the World’, aiming to equip the youth with modern technical expertise.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), a digital platform designed to streamline academic administration across schools in Maharashtra.
The system, supported by live chatbot technologies like Smart Upasthiti and Swadhyay, will allow real-time data access for students, teachers, and administrators.
It will also facilitate enhanced communication between schools and parents while offering curated educational resources aimed at improving learning outcomes.
These projects collectively mark a significant leap towards enhancing infrastructure, healthcare, education, and skill development in Maharashtra.
