Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence unit has made a significant breakthrough with the apprehension of Simranjeet Bablu, a key member of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), responsible for the fatal shooting of former terrorist Rattandeep Singh in SBS Nagar on 3 April.

Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the operation’s success on Monday, emphasizing the intelligence-driven nature of the operation.

According to DGP Yadav, the module operated under the leadership of Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Rinda and had links to USA-based operative Gopi Nawanshehria.

The arrest of Simranjeet Bablu marks a crucial step in dismantling the network behind the targeted killing.

During the operation, authorities seized sophisticated weapons and a substantial cache of ammunition from the apprehended individual.

Investigations into the network’s activities are currently underway to unearth further details.

In related developments, the Border Security Force (BSF) conducted two separate search operations resulting in significant seizures.

The first operation yielded a Pakistani drone recovered from Wan village in Tarn Taran district.

The second operation in Rorawala village, Amritsar district, led to the confiscation of 250 grams of heroin.

BSF officials identified the recovered drone as a China-made DJI Mavic 3 classic. They credited the swift action and reliable intelligence inputs for thwarting the smuggling attempts orchestrated by cross-border elements.

The coordinated efforts of the Punjab Police and BSF underscore a proactive approach in tackling security threats, ensuring the safety and integrity of the region against external influences. Further updates are awaited as investigations into these incidents continue to unfold.
