The Uttar Pradesh government has announced stringent measures ahead of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, likely to begin on 22 July and conclude on 19 August.

To ensure safety and maintain decorum during the month-long pilgrimage, authorities have issued several key directives.

Restrictions On Weapons & Music:

DGP Prashant Kumar highlighted significant changes aimed at regulating the Yatra.

Kanwariyas participating in the pilgrimage are strictly advised against carrying spears, tridents, or any type of weapon.

This advisory is part of efforts to maintain peace and prevent untoward incidents along the Yatra routes. Officials have emphasized that any musical activity, including DJs, must adhere to permissible noise limits set by the Supreme Court.

This measure aims to strike a balance between religious practices and public nuisance concerns.

Traffic Management & Route Restrictions:

In preparation for the Yatra, the Uttar Pradesh government has revamped traffic regulations.

Authorities will prohibit heavy vehicles from entering routes used by Kanwariyas starting from midnight on July 21. This restriction applies to key expressways such as the Delhi and Dehradun Expressways, as well as the Chaudhary Charan Singh Kanwar Marg.

Additionally, increased monitoring through CCTVs and drones will ensure smooth movement and safety of devotees.

Closure Of Liquor & Meat Shops:.

To maintain sanctity and respect the religious sentiments of pilgrims, authorities have ordered the closure of liquor and meat shops along the Yatra routes.

This measure is part of efforts to create a conducive environment for the spiritual journey undertaken by millions of devotees.

Other Precautionary Measures:

Local authorities have received instructions to prevent stray animals, including pigs, from straying onto Yatra routes.

Moreover, special arrangements are being made to restrict normal traffic on critical routes like the Ayodhya-Basti Road to facilitate the smooth passage of Kanwar Yatra participants.

Only emergency vehicles will be allowed on these routes during the Yatra period.

Support For Pilgrims:

In a show of support, police officials are coordinating with registered organizations and devotees who set up roadside camps to offer essentials such as food, water, and lodging to Kanwariyas.

This collaborative effort aims to enhance the overall experience and ensure the well-being of all participants.

With these proactive measures and preparations, the Uttar Pradesh government aims to ensure a peaceful and orderly Kanwar Yatra, maintaining harmony and upholding safety standards throughout the pilgrimage period.
