As announced by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE) on Saturday at the National Agricultural Science Centre (NASC) Complex, New Delhi.

This year, the International Association of Agricultural Economists is hosting the triennial ICAE from 2 to 7 August, marking the first time in 65 years that India is holding the conference.

The event will attract around 1,000 delegates from approximately 75 countries, underscoring its global significance.

Under the theme “Transformation Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems,” the conference will address critical issues facing agriculture today, including climate change, resource depletion, escalating production costs, and geopolitical conflicts.

The PMO highlighted that the conference will spotlight India’s role in addressing these challenges and showcase its progress in agricultural research and policy.

ICAE 2024 aims to be a pivotal platform for young researchers and leading agricultural professionals to share their insights, foster international collaborations, and influence both national and global agricultural policies.

The event will also showcase India’s strides in digital agriculture and sustainable agri-food systems, reflecting the country’s commitment to advancing agricultural practices on the global stage.
