Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking from the historic Red Fort, addressed the nation on Thursday, expressing deep concern over the rising frequency of natural disasters affecting various parts of India. In his 11th consecutive Independence Day speech from the Red Fort, PM Modi assured that the country stands in solidarity with those impacted by these calamities.
In his address, PM Modi acknowledged the significant toll that recent natural disasters have taken on families and communities across India. “The increasing occurrence of natural disasters is a pressing issue for our nation. Many lives have been lost, and countless properties have been damaged. During these trying times, I extend my heartfelt condolences to all those and assure them that the nation is unite in its support,” he mention.
In addition to addressing the current challenges, PM Modi paid tribute to the valiant freedom fighters who paved the way for India’s independence. “Today, we honor the sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom, many of whom faced execution while chanting ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’ Their bravery has granted us the freedom we cherish today, and we owe them a debt of gratitude,” he said.
Nation’s Progress
The Prime Minister highlighted the contributions of individuals dedicated to the nation’s progress, including farmers, soldiers, youth, and women. He praised their unwavering commitment and resilience, which he described as a source of inspiration for the world. “On this significant day, I pay homage to all those who contribute to the defense and development of our country despite facing numerous challenges,” he added.
PM Modi also reflected on the long history of resistance against oppression, citing various movements for independence prior to the 1857 revolt. He emphasized that the struggle for freedom spanned centuries and involved diverse groups including youth, farmers, women, and tribals. “Even before the 1857 revolt, numerous tribal regions in India engage in battles for freedom. This historical narrative underscores the enduring spirit of resistance against tyranny,” PM Modi concluded.
