With several Indians killed in a Kuwait building fire on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level review meeting. PM chaired an urgent meeting at his residence over the tragedy.
Expressing deep sorrow for the unfortunate incident, PM extended condolence to the families of the deceased. He directed the relief amount of Rs 2 lakh to the families of deceased Indians from the Prime Minister relief fund. Prime Minister Instructed the Indian government should extend all possible assistance.
10 Indian nationals including 5 from Kerala have lost their lives in a Kuwait building fire. Indian government contacted the Kuwait administration immediately after the incident and requested urgent medical treatment for Indian nationals.
Prime Minister called an urgent review meeting immediately upon returning from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar with other key officials from the ministry were present in the meeting.
Earlier on Wednesday, a massive fire broke out in a six-storey building in the city of Mangaf in southern Kuwait which reportedly housed around 195 workers, most of them from Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
“The fire mishap in Kuwait City is saddening. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray that the injured recover at the earliest. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is closely monitoring the situation and working with the authorities there to assist the affected,” he said on X.
