Extensive preparations are underway over the past five days in Srinagar to ensure the resounding success of the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations, slated to witness the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The event will take place at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) situated along the picturesque Dal Lake on 21 June.
Enthusiastic locals from various walks of life will actively engage in practice sessions across colleges, public parks, local stadia, and other open-air venues to prepare themselves for the event alongside the Prime Minister.
These practice Yoga exercises start around 4 AM and continue up to 8 AM.
The event will attract over 7,000 participants from diverse backgrounds, including college and school teachers, students, civil servants, representatives of social organizations, and residents from various parts of the Valley.
As per reports, notable figures such as Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and top bureaucrats will join PM Modi in leading the celebrations.
Meanwhile, the theme for this year’s International Yoga Day, ‘Yoga for Self & Society,’ underscores the significance of physical and mental wellness towards fostering a brighter future for the nation.
To facilitate seamless participation, authorities however have arranged transport and overnight accommodation in Srinagar for attendees coming from distant regions across the Valley.
A senior official overseeing preparations for tomorrow’s mega Yoga event at SKICC assured that every district in the Valley will be represented. He emphasized a seamless experience for all participants.
