The Maha Kumbh festival at Prayagraj’s Sangam has attracted over 13 crore devotees so far, with preparations underway for the Amrit Snan on Mauni Amavasya, set for 29 January 2025.
On this auspicious day, around 10 crore pilgrims will likely take a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam.
To accommodate the large number of devotees, the Prayagraj Railway Division has implemented comprehensive special arrangements to ensure the smooth arrival and departure of passengers at the city’s stations.
Since 25 January, around 1 crore passengers have been arriving daily for the Maha Kumbh.
Special Entry & Exit Plans At Prayagraj Junction
The Prayagraj Railway Division has rolled out a detailed plan, including certain restrictions, to manage the crowd effectively during the days leading up to and following the Mauni Amavasya bathing festival.
On the day of the festival, Prayagraj Junction will permit entry only from the city side through platform number 1, while exit will be exclusively from the Civil Lines side, via platform number 6.
Reserved passengers with pre-booked tickets will enter through the city-side gate number 5, and unreserved passengers will enter through designated, color-coded shelters based on their routes.
These shelters, which will also feature unreserved ticket counters, ATMs, and mobile ticketing services, will help direct passengers efficiently.
Officials have set up a special holding area at Khusro Bagh to accommodate up to 1 lakh people.
Other key railway stations are also prepared for the influx of passengers. At Naini Junction, entry will allowed from Station Road, with exits through the goods shed. Reserved passengers will use Gate Number 2.
At Prayagraj Cheoki Station, passengers will enter from COD Road and exit through G.E.C. Naini Road, with reserved passengers using Gate Number 2.
At Subedarganj Station, the entry will be from Jhalwa-Kaushambi Road, and the exit will be towards GT Road, with reserved passengers using Gate Number 3.
Color-coded shelters will also be provided at all stations for unreserved passengers, helping to organize passengers according to their destinations.
Authorities will arrange special trains to manage crowd movement and ensure a smooth travel experience for all.
