The Delhi Police informed a local court on Thursday that no corroborating evidence was discovered against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in the case filed against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act.
The complainant, Singh, a young wrestler, her father, and other witnesses are all mentioned in the police’s 552-page cancellation report that was submitted to the court. When no supporting evidence is discovered, a cancellation report is produced. The case will next be heard in court on July 4.
One of the female athletes who accused Singh, oversaw WFI for 12 years, of sexual harassment was minor. In the POCSO Act case, her father, who was the complainant, dropped the accusations and gave a new statement to the magistrate.

After the inquiry was complete, according to statements made by the kid and her father, the report asking for the case to be dropped was filed, according to New Delhi’s deputy police commissioner Pranav Tayal.
Four out of the six female athletes, according to the police, supplied audio and visual proof to support their claims.
When Union Minister Anurag Thakur met with Olympic medalists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik on June 7, he gave them the assurance that the charge sheet in the matter would be filed by June 15. As a result, wrestlers seeking action against Singh suspended their protest until June 15.
Investigating authorities have the burden of proof in situations like those involving sexual harassment. Before the Supreme Court ordered the police to produce a first information report (FIR), they had been waiting weeks.
Last Friday, a team from the Delhi Police went to the WFI office and spent around 30 minutes there with one of the complainants to recreate the scene.
The Delhi Police removed the protesting wrestlers’ tents from Jantar Mantar on May 28 after they had been there for 38 days and had demanded Singh’s immediate arrest. On the day of the new Parliament’s opening, they attempted to march there but were beaten, stopped, and imprisoned.
Later, as a form of protest against Singh, the wrestlers decided against submerging their medals in the Ganga and instead sobbed in front of live television viewers.

As part of their investigation, the Delhi Police wrote to the wrestling federations of five different countries to request information regarding the alleged sexual harassment instances. The responses are anticipated to be included in the case’s supplemental charge sheet.
