Swati Maliwal Taken to Arvind Kejriwal’s Residence as Police Investigate Assault Claims

Tensions surrounding Swati Maliwal’s accusations against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, Bibhav Kumar, intensified on Friday afternoon as a police team, accompanied by forensic experts, visited the residence of the Aam Aadmi Party leader, where the purported assault occurred.

Led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Anjitha Chepyala, the four-member police team, along with five forensic scientists, arrived to gather evidence. Their tasks included retrieving CCTV footage from the living room, where Maliwal alleges she was subjected to physical assault. Additionally, they aimed to record witness testimonies and interview members of Kejriwal’s security personnel, some of whom were involved in a confrontation captured in blurry mobile phone footage leaked earlier in the day.

Based on Maliwal’s statement, recorded the previous evening, a police case has been registered against Bibhav Kumar, with charges including assault and criminal intimidation.

In a 52-second video clip circulating online, Maliwal is seen engaging in a heated exchange with security staff inside Kejriwal’s residence. Despite repeated requests from the guards to leave, she remains adamant, threatening to involve the police and challenging the security personnel to physically remove her.

The release of the video, accompanied by the caption “The truth of Swati Maliwal,” suggests a breakdown in relations between Maliwal and the AAP, of which she is a member of parliament. Maliwal has criticized the party’s handling of the incident, particularly targeting what she describes as a “political hitman” — widely interpreted as a reference to Kejriwal. She accuses this individual of orchestrating efforts to distort the narrative and shield himself from accountability.

In her initial public statement on the matter, Maliwal demanded action against those responsible for the alleged assault, expressing the emotional toll the situation has taken on her.
