PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Mujra’ Remark Sparks Controversy; Worried Opposition Says ‘Get Well Soon’

Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale also criticized Modi, stating, “From ‘Naari Shakti’ to now using terms like ‘mujra’, Modi’s true self is showing after 10 years of PR and a carefully curated image. Such cheap language.”

Leaders of the INDIA bloc on Saturday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his controversial remarks, accusing the Opposition of “enslavement” and performing “mujra” for the Muslim vote bank.

During rallies in the Karakat and Patliputra Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar, PM Modi asserted, “Bihar, a land known for leading the fight for social justice, will witness my efforts to thwart the INDIA bloc’s plans to deprive SCs, STs, and OBCs of their rights and allocate them to Muslims. They may continue to remain subservient and perform ‘mujra’ to appease their vote bank.”

‘Mujra’ is a traditional dance form that originated in the Mughal era in the Indian subcontinent.

Opposition Slams PM Modi
Reacting strongly to the prime minister’s statements, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera posted on X in Hindi: “Today, I heard the word ‘Mujra’ from the Prime Minister. Modiji, what is this state of mind? Why don’t you take something? Amit Shah and JP Nadda should ensure he gets immediate treatment. Perhaps delivering speeches under the Sun has affected his brain.”

Trinamool Congress MP Saket Gokhale also criticized Modi, stating, “From ‘Naari Shakti’ to now using terms like ‘mujra’, Modi’s true self is showing after 10 years of PR and a carefully curated image. Such cheap language.”

Gokhale further added, “It’s frightening to think what he might be saying during his foreign trips as PM.”

Manoj Jha of the RJD expressed concern over Modi’s comments. “I am worried about what he is saying. Till yesterday, we disagreed with him; now we are worried about him. I had recently mentioned that he is becoming delusional. ‘Machli’, mutton, mangalsutra, and ‘mujra’… is this the language of a PM?” news agency PTI quoted Manoj Jha as saying.
