Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and enthusiastic welcome in Dehradun on Tuesday as large crowds gathered for a roadshow during his visit to Uttarakhand. The visit comes ahead of the inauguration of the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic growth.
As the Prime Minister’s convoy moved through the city, supporters lined the roads and chanted slogans such as ‘Modiji aapka swagat hai’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, and ‘Modi, Modi’, while waving the Tricolour and BJP flags.
People gathered in large numbers and celebrated his arrival in a festive atmosphere.
Women and children in traditional Uttarakhand attire also welcomed him along the route. Cultural performances and folk dances highlighted local traditions and added to the celebrations.
Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple, where he offered prayers.
Children greeted him and performed the Durga Devi Stotram. He also met devotees and accepted their greetings.
The Prime Minister later reviewed the wildlife corridor section of the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Officials briefed him on the project and displayed an exhibition on its construction and design.
Senior leaders, including Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, joined the review.
The Prime Minister also held another roadshow along the wildlife corridor stretch, where crowds gathered, and people performed folk dances.
The Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor spans 213 kilometres and features a six-lane access-controlled highway. Authorities built it at a cost of over ₹12,000 crore. It will cut travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to around two and a half hours.
The project will also boost tourism, trade, and regional development across the region.
The Prime Minister will address a public gathering later in Dehradun and inaugurate the corridor.
