Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple upon arriving in Uttarakhand for the inauguration of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor on Tuesday.
Children dressed in traditional attire welcomed him and performed the Durga Devi Stotram, while the Prime Minister interacted warmly with devotees at the temple.
Earlier, PM Modi reviewed the wildlife corridor on the elevated section of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Saharanpur.
Union Minister for Highways and Transport Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak joined the review.
Officials briefed him, and an exhibition showcased the construction process of the wildlife corridor.
PM Modi also held a roadshow along the wildlife corridor section of the expressway, where a large crowd gathered to greet him.
Supporters waved the Tricolour, showered flowers, and chanted slogans such as ‘Modi, Modi’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, and ‘Jai Shri Ram’. Many participants wore traditional attire and performed folk dances, creating a festive atmosphere.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the 213-kilometre, six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Dehradun and address a large gathering.
The ₹12,000 crore project connects Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand and cuts travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to about two and a half hours. It includes 10 interchanges, three Railway Over Bridges, four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities.
It also features an Advanced Traffic Management System and wildlife-friendly structures like a 12-kilometre elevated corridor, animal passes, elephant underpasses, and a tunnel near the Daat Kali temple.
Officials said it will boost trade, tourism, and jobs while reflecting PM Narendra Modi’s vision of modern, safe, and sustainable infrastructure.
