Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged India’s young innovators to demonstrate a greater appetite for risk and boldly pursue creative solutions for national development.
Speaking at the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue, he criticised previous policy paralysis and praised Generation Z for their determination to contribute to India’s growth.
Addressing participants, PM Modi emphasised, “Young innovators should move ahead with the mindset of taking bigger risks. The government supports you, and you need not take a backward step.”
He highlighted reforms like the New Education Policy 2020, which dismantled the colonial-era Macaulay system and laid the foundation for a modern, skills-oriented education framework.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of Swadeshi initiatives and encouraged youth to reject the colonial mindset still lingering in some educational and administrative structures.
He cited PM Setu, a scheme modernising ITIs to promote skill development and enterprise. The Prime Minister said this initiative is a step toward empowering the next generation.
Reflecting on progress since 2014, PM Modi noted that India had just 500 start-ups then, compared to over 1.5 lakh today. He highlighted over 300 startups in the space sector and 1,000 defence startups.
These figures illustrate the thriving startup ecosystem fostered by policy simplification and Digital India initiatives.
PM Modi encouraged the youth to integrate India’s rich mythology into contemporary industries, particularly gaming. He suggested that figures like Lord Hanuman could inspire innovation while popularising Indian culture.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the discussions at the Dialogue on women-led development and youth participation in democracy. He noted that these ideas instil confidence in India’s future leaders.
He applauded the government’s drone policy reforms, which liberated the sector.
These reforms enabled Make-in-India drones to excel in defence and support agricultural applications.
PM Modi called on young innovators to cultivate a ‘think wave’ for dialogue-driven development at the state and district levels. He asserted that Yuva Shakti, with energy, ideas, and purpose, drives nation-building.
