Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens across India to actively participate in the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, describing it as a powerful initiative that embodies collective responsibility and national pride.
His message, shared on the social media platform X, highlighted the importance of cleanliness and the role each individual can play in making the campaign a success.
“This cleanliness initiative is very encouraging. I urge more people to join this campaign and make it a success,” PM Modi said, encouraging widespread involvement to create a cleaner and healthier environment.
Coinciding with the Prime Minister’s call, several BJP leaders in Delhi took to the streets armed with brooms to clean public spaces.
These efforts are part of the Delhi government’s ‘Seva Pakhwada’, a 15-day campaign running from 17 September, the Prime Minister’s birthday, until 2 October, aimed at promoting social service and public welfare initiatives.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, along with party workers and officials from the Public Works Department and the Municipal Corporation, symbolically inaugurated a cleanliness drive at Rose Garden and the bus stop beneath the ITO flyover, as well as the surrounding areas.
Municipal Councillor Ramkishore Sharma and Northeast District BJP President UK Chaudhary also participated in the campaign.
Sachdeva emphasised the need for sustained efforts, stating, “Making Delhi beautiful requires continuous dedication. One-day campaigns alone are insufficient. Cleanliness must become a habit, and all citizens must work together for this cause.”
At another location, the bus stop under the Safdarjung-Sarojini Nagar flyover and its surroundings witnessed a similar cleanliness initiative led by Delhi BJP media chief Praveen Shankar Kapoor, South Delhi district president Maya Bisht, Municipal Councillor Arun Bhati, and local Public Works Department and Municipal Corporation employees.
Further drives were launched at Rajghat bus stop and adjacent areas by Delhi BJP Organisation General Secretary Pawan Rana, joined by Municipal Councillor Sandeep Kapoor and State Spokesperson Yasir Jilani.
The ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, reflecting Prime Minister Modi’s long-standing commitment to cleanliness and sanitation, aims to instil a culture of cleanliness across India.
By mobilising citizens and leaders alike, the campaign seeks to enhance public awareness, improve sanitation, and create a healthier environment for all.
PM Modi’s call for greater citizen involvement reinforces the message that cleanliness is not just a governmental responsibility but a collective one, where every individual’s contribution matters.
As the campaign gains momentum, such initiatives promise to strengthen India’s commitment to cleanliness and sustainability, creating a lasting impact on public health and civic pride.
