Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet NITI Aayog’s newly appointed leadership in New Delhi on Thursday to examine ongoing policy initiatives and discuss strategies for achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.

Each member will present two slides outlining key challenges, policy initiatives and ongoing projects that support the government’s long-term development goals.

PM Modi will assess progress on existing initiatives, consider challenges arising from global uncertainty and discuss priorities for the 2027-28 Union Budget.

The meeting will, however, focus on boosting domestic manufacturing, creating more jobs and accelerating India’s economic growth.

NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Ashok Lahiri, CEO Anurag Jain and members Rajiv Gauba, R Balasubramaniam, Joram Aniya, KV Raju, M Srinivas, Gobardhan Das and Abhay Karandikar are expected to attend. Senior officials from the government’s policy think tank will also participate.

The discussions, however, come as the government pursues its ambition to transform India into a developed nation by the centenary of Independence in 2047.

On June 11, PM Modi chaired NITI Aayog’s 11th Governing Council meeting at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi.

Held under the theme ‘Inclusive Human Development for Viksit Bharat @2047’, the meeting brought together representatives from states and Union Territories, Union Ministers and senior NITI Aayog officials.

Participants examined human capital development, future-ready skills, employment, entrepreneurship, healthcare and equitable access to opportunities. They further highlighted Digital Public Infrastructure and data-led governance as tools to improve public services.

The meeting stressed cooperative federalism and stronger Centre-state coordination.

Discussions included expanding the Lakhpati Didi programme from three crore to six crore beneficiaries, tackling climate change impacts on agriculture and aligning central and state policies.
