Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, Asia’s premier telecom and technology event, on October 8 in New Delhi, the Ministry of Communications announced on Monday.
The four-day mega event, themed ‘Innovate to Transform’, will run until October 11 and is expected to highlight India’s growing prominence in global digital and telecom technology.
Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M Scindia recently visited the IMC venue to review final preparations ahead of the Prime Minister’s inauguration.
Scindia also travelled to and from the venue via the Airport Metro, symbolising India’s commitment to modern, sustainable urban transport solutions.
During his visit, Minister Scindia toured the exhibition area, engaged with participating startups and exhibitors, and chaired review meetings with senior officials from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), and other partner agencies.
He noted that IMC 2025 would mark a new era in global connectivity, bringing together cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), the Internet of Things (IoT), and satellite communications.
Speaking to the media, Scindia highlighted that the event aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a self-reliant and innovative India, connecting the country domestically and internationally. He added that IMC 2025 demonstrates India’s growing stature as a hub for digital technology, innovation, and global collaboration.
IMC 2025 expects over 1.5 lakh visitors, 7,000 delegates from more than 150 countries, and 400 exhibitors to attend across a sprawling 4.5 lakh square feet of exhibition space.
The event will feature more than 1,600 technology demonstrations and 100 knowledge-sharing sessions with over 800 speakers discussing the latest trends in telecom, digital innovation, and emerging technologies.
The 2025 edition will host six major global summits covering 6G research, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, satellite communications, startups, and the Global Startup World Cup, India Edition. This expansion underscores the evolution of IMC from a national platform to a global technology congress that reflects India’s leadership in digital innovation.
Minister Scindia emphasised India’s remarkable telecom progress, noting that the country ranks among the top three digital economies worldwide, with 1.2 billion mobile subscribers, 970 million internet users, and the fastest-ever 5G rollout completed in just 22 months.
He underscored that IMC 2025 will provide a platform for showcasing these achievements while inspiring further innovation and collaboration.
PM Modi’s inauguration of IMC 2025 marks a significant step in positioning India as a global digital powerhouse. IMC 2025 will catalyse further growth, foster innovation, and strengthen India’s leadership in the global technology and telecom sectors.
