PIB Fact Check Dismisses Fake Claim Linking PM Modi To Investment App

The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has categorically denied a viral claim circulating on social media and the website ‘inwayss’, which alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised people during a live TV show to invest in an app promising massive returns.

The fabricated article claimed that the app could turn an investment of ₹21,000 into a profit of up to ₹6 lakh.

The post, widely shared on various online platforms, attempted to mislead the public by falsely linking the Prime Minister to a non-existent investment scheme.

In its official statement on X, PIB Fact Check called the claim ‘fake’ and confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India have never endorsed any such investment platform.

PIB Fact Check took to X wrote, “An article published on the website ‘inwayss’ claims that during a live TV show, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised the public to invest in an app that turns an investment of ₹21,000 into a profit of up to ₹6 lakh. #PIBFactCheck  This claim is fake.  No such platform has been endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the Government of India.  Don’t fall prey to any such suspicious investment claims!  Stay alert. Verify before you share.”

Public Urged to Stay Vigilant Against Scams

The PIB also issued a strong advisory urging citizens to be wary of fraudulent schemes that use the names or images of government leaders to appear credible.

It reminded people that verified government channels and websites share all official investment announcements or government-backed schemes.

Cyber experts have also warned that such fake investment claims are part of a growing trend of online scams designed to steal personal and financial information.

By swiftly countering the misinformation, the PIB Fact Check has once again reinforced the government’s commitment to combating fake news and protecting citizens from online fraud.

Authorities urge the public to stay alert, verify such claims with official sources, and avoid sharing unverified content.
