The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has categorically dismissed social media claims suggesting that three Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft crashed within a two-hour window due to unspecified electronic interference.
The Indian Air Force reported that a single PC-7 Mk II trainer aircraft crashed during a routine training mission near Tambaram, Chennai.
The IAF confirmed that the pilot successfully ejected and sustained no injuries. Authorities further assured that there was no damage to civilian property.
The IAF’s official statement emphasised that the incident was a routine training mishap and unrelated to any external interference.
The aircraft involved is a standard trainer used for pilot instruction and operational preparedness.
The misinformation originated from pro-Pakistani handles on social media, which falsely claimed that multiple IAF aircraft had crashed within a short span, attributing the alleged incidents to unknown electronic disturbances. The PIB highlighted these claims as ‘FAKE’ and urged the public not to fall for such rumours.
Authorities reiterated the importance of consulting verified sources before sharing information online, particularly in matters of national security.
The PIB encouraged citizens to cross-check reports with official statements from the IAF and other government agencies.
The incident serves as a reminder of the need for responsible dissemination of information. The IAF continues to carry out routine training operations across India, and safety protocols ensure the well-being of personnel and surrounding communities.
By swiftly addressing misinformation, the PIB and IAF have reassured the public that there has been no widespread crash or threat to aviation safety, maintaining confidence in India’s armed forces and operational protocols.
