Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in Tripura, accused the Congress of pursuing what he termed the “loot East policy,” contrasting it with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s “Act East” policy. He claimed that had the Congress remained in power, mobile bills in the state would have skyrocketed to ₹5,000 per month, whereas his government has reduced them to around ₹400-₹500 per month.
Modi asserted that his administration is dedicated to improving infrastructure and connectivity in Tripura, citing efforts to enhance 5G connectivity and the construction of the Feni bridge connecting Bangladesh with South Tripura’s Sabroom subdivision. He also pledged a significant investment of ₹3,000 crore for highway development in the state.
Moreover, the Prime Minister highlighted the construction of three crore new houses across India for the underprivileged, which he believes will greatly benefit the people of Tripura. He also touched upon the recent Surya Tilak ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, celebrating the culmination of a 500-year wait for a grand temple in place of a tent.

However, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized PM Modi’s governance, accusing the BJP of perpetrating political violence in Tripura and implementing a “bluff and rule” policy. Ramesh also questioned the Prime Minister’s commitment to addressing child malnutrition in Tripura, amidst allegations of BJP associates seizing a Congress publicity vehicle and vandalizing it.
