PM Modi Says India's Solar Energy Push Is Opening New Opportunities

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted India’s growing solar and renewable energy sector, saying the country’s clean energy journey was creating new opportunities across multiple sectors.

His remarks came ahead of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit 2026 and the 9th Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).

In two posts on X, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) shared articles highlighting India’s progress in solar energy and the opportunities emerging from its renewable energy expansion.

“India’s solar energy journey is opening up new opportunities,” PM Modi said, referring to an article by Union Renewable Energy Minister Prahlad Joshi.

The article discussed the sector’s growth and future prospects, including solar-powered agriculture, energy storage, domestic manufacturing and green employment.

India is working towards its target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy capacity, with flagship programmes such as PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM supporting the expansion of solar power.

Another post shared by the Prime Minister highlighted an article co-authored by Joshi and philanthropist Michael Bloomberg. It discussed the growing contribution of solar energy to India’s power requirements, expanding rooftop installations and investments in energy storage and transmission infrastructure.

Joshi said initiatives such as PM Surya Ghar, PM-KUSUM and the National Green Hydrogen Mission were creating opportunities across agriculture and manufacturing.

He said the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit 2026 and the 9th ISA Assembly would strengthen global clean energy partnerships. India’s renewable energy transition, he added, was supporting economic growth and energy security.
