PM Modi Launches GST ‘Savings Festival’; Urges Citizens To Celebrate Benefits

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday announced the launch of the GST ‘Savings Festival’, urging citizens to celebrate the benefits of next-generation GST reforms.

Speaking at a public event in Indira Gandhi Park, Itanagar, he said the reforms would significantly benefit the poor, middle class, women, farmers, traders, and entrepreneurs.

PM Modi described the GST ‘savings festival’ as a ‘memorable milestone’ for the nation and shared the slogan, ‘Garv se kahen, yeh swadeshi hai’, encouraging the crowd to raise mobile flashlights in unison.

Thousands of attendees responded enthusiastically, celebrating the festive launch.

Focus on Affordable Essentials & Simplified Taxation

The Prime Minister highlighted that the reforms have simplified GST to just two slabs, 5 per cent and 18 per cent, with many essential items now tax-free and others significantly cheaper.

He said households will notice substantial relief in monthly budgets, as kitchen supplies, educational materials, clothing, and footwear have become more affordable.

PM Modi also emphasised that major expenses such as building homes, purchasing vehicles, dining out, and travelling are now easier on the pocket.

He noted that women, in particular, will directly benefit from the reduced costs of daily essentials.

Ahead of the main event, PM Modi laid the foundation stones for 13 development projects in Arunachal Pradesh worth over Rs 5,127 crore, spanning power, connectivity, tourism, and healthcare.

The Prime Minister described these initiatives as a reflection of combined efforts from the Central and state governments, bringing a ‘double bonanza’ of prosperity to citizens during the festive season.

He visited an exhibition showcasing local traders, craftspersons, and artisans, engaging with entrepreneurs on the impact of GST rationalisation and promoting Ease of Doing Business.

PM Modi also tied the announcement to the first day of Navratri, noting the cultural and spiritual significance of worshipping Maa Shailputri amidst Arunachal’s scenic landscapes.
