On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of India on the auspicious festival of Raksha Bandhan.
Using social media platform X, he extended his best wishes on the special occasion of Raksha Bandhan and, in Hindi, shared “Best wishes on the special occasion of Raksha Bandhan,” as the nation celebrated this cherished tradition.
The Prime Minister’s message resonated with millions, reminding citizens of the enduring emotional connection between siblings and the timeless cultural relevance of the festival.
Union Leaders Share Their Wishes
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also took to the social media platform earlier in the day. He offered heartfelt best wishes to all countrymen on the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan.
“Heartfelt best wishes to all countrymen on the sacred festival of ‘Raksha Bandhan,’ dedicated to the unbreakable bond of love, trust, and commitment to protection between brothers and sisters. I pray to God that this festival becomes a source of joy and enthusiasm in everyone’s life,” he posted on X.
He described it as a celebration of ‘the unbreakable bond of love, trust, and commitment to protection between brothers and sisters’. He also expressed his hope that the day would bring joy and enthusiasm to all.
In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath posted a heartfelt message. He poetically describes Raksha Bandhan as ‘the sacred knot of affection, the silent vow of trust, the vibrant expression of the unbreakable love between brother and sister’.
“Heartfelt congratulations to the people of the state on Rakshabandhan! The delicate thread of the Raksha Sutra does not merely tie the wrist; it binds the soul. It weaves an eternal saga of dignity and intimacy in every era,” he posted.
His remarks, translated from Hindi, captured the deep emotional symbolism of the festival.
Indians celebrate Raksha Bandhan with devotion and joy on the full moon day (Purnima) of the Hindu month of Sawan. Rooted in Hindu tradition, the festival goes beyond a simple exchange of threads. It is a reaffirmation of mutual respect, protection, and unconditional love between siblings.
Families come together for the ritual of tying the Rakhi, a decorated thread, around the brother’s wrist. They also offer prayers for his well-being.
In return, brothers pledge to protect their sisters, symbolising the mutual care and responsibility at the heart of this bond.
This year’s Raksha Bandhan once again highlighted the shared values of unity, affection, and trust that transcend regional boundaries.
The Prime Minister’s and other leaders’ messages highlighted the importance of cultural traditions. These traditions continue to unite the nation in celebration and mutual respect.
