PM Modi Calls For Modern-Day Quit India Movement Against Corruption & Dynasty Politics

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi invoked the spirit of the Quit India Movement to urge a contemporary fight against corruption, dynasty politics, and appeasement.

His remarks, made during a tribute to the historic movement, highlight a call for national reform inspired by the legacy of India’s struggle for independence.

Paying homage to the leaders and participants of the Quit India Movement, PM Modi shared a video on social media platform X, reflecting on the movement’s significance and its impact on India’s freedom struggle.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Homage to all those who took part in the Quit India Movement under Bapu’s leadership. It was truly a watershed moment in our freedom struggle.”

In his address, PM Modi emphasized the enduring relevance of 9 August 1942, when Mahatma Gandhi’s call for Quit India galvanized the nation.

PM Modi stated, “Our new generation should understand the events of that day. Gandhi’s call provided a powerful impetus to our fight for freedom.”

He elaborated, “The Quit India Movement unified the country against British rule, with people from all walks of life, whether rich or poor, urban or rural joining the Bharat Chodo Andolan. It was a movement that transcended social and economic barriers.”

Highlighting the historical context, PM Modi recalled how the struggle for independence began in 1857 and reached its peak in 1942.

PM Modi further asserted, “By 1947, just five years after the Quit India Movement, the British were compelled to leave.”

In his call to action, PM Modi underscored the parallels between past and present struggles.

PM Modi said, “Inspired by the Quit India Movement, the nation now seeks to eliminate modern-day evils. The mantra reverberating today is: Corruption Quit India, Dynasty Quit India, Appeasement Quit India.”

Quit India Movement

The Quit India Movement, or Bharat Chodo Andolan, began in Bombay and marked a crucial juncture in India’s quest for independence.

Mahatma Gandhi’s declaration of ‘Do or die’ became a rallying cry for freedom fighters, encapsulating the movement’s resolve.

PM’s remarks signal a renewed push for national reform, echoing the transformative zeal of the 1942 movement while addressing contemporary challenges facing India.
