Rahul Gandhi speaks at the Parliamentary Consultative Committee
Amid the allegations against Rahul Gandhi’s democracy remarks that it insulted the country abroad, the Congress MP, Rahul spoke over his London speech at a parliamentary panel meeting on Saturday.
The Congress leader said that he only raised questions about India’s democracy, and could not be labelled “anti-national” for that, said media reports.
Rahul Gandhi’s stance over allegations
Speaking at a Parliamentary Consultative Committee chaired by the External Affairs Ministry, the Wayanad MP added that he did not ask any other country to intervene.
Moreover, he also told other leaders present that he believes this is an internal matter and they will solve it.
Taking notes from the meeting, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar aimed at discussing India’s G20 presidency. At the start of the meeting, Jaishankar gave a detailed presentation on the G20 presidency to the committee members.
A good meeting of the ConsultativeCommittee on ExternalAffairs today on India’s foreign policy objectives in the G-20 was somewhat marred by some members needlessly politicising the discussion. @RahulGandhi robustly responded to them & it ended with an amicable group photograph. pic.twitter.com/ICfh35DRKF

BJP attacks Rahul over his remarks
Attacking the Congress leader, an MP raised the issue of political leaders trying to score brownie points by talking about Indian democracy on foreign land.
Rahul Gandhi’s remarks were countered by BJP MPs. They said that this was not the appropriate platform to speak on this topic.
According to the media reports, a few other MPs present at the meeting also supported the argument put forward by the BJP MP while many opposition MPs supported the former Congress chief’s right to clarify or defend himself given the oblique reference in the meeting to his London remarks.
‘Trying to divert attention from India’s G20 presidency’
Further, the reports said that some BJP MPs, without taking any names, said that the emergency was the biggest blot on India’s democracy and that some people are trying to divert the attention from India’s G20 presidency.
Amidst the heated argument, the foreign minister, Jaishankar stopped the Congress MP, Gandhi from responding to these statements and told all the leaders to say these things in the Parliament.
The union minister asked Rahul Gandhi to speak only on the committee topics and not on politics.
