Parliament Budget Session: The budget session of Parliament will kick off on January 31 with the President address by Draupadi Murmu. The budget will be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 01.
The session will conclude on April 06. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi tweeted that the budget session of the Parliament will begin on January 31 and will continue till April 6. There will be a total of 27 meetings during this period. This session will run for 66 days.
Holiday from 14 February to 12 March
In this session to be held in the midst of Amrit Mahotsav, Joshi expressed the hope of a meaningful debate on the Union Budget, and other issues along with the President’s address. According to the information, the first part of the budget session will run till 13 February.
During this budget session, there will be a holiday-break from February 14 to March 12, which will provide time-space to the parliamentary standing committees to examine the demands for grants and prepare reports related to their ministries/departments.

After this, the second part of the session will begin on March 13. Significantly, this will be the last budget session of the current government, because general elections are going to be held in 2024, so it is expected that the session might witness the announcement of big schemes for the citizens by the Center.
The employee class has high hopes from this budget. Employed people are expecting an increase in the income tax slab. At the same time, the business class is hopeful about their demands. They expect, the Finance Minister will make some announcements regarding reducing GST while presenting the budget.
Winter session ended prematurely
Earlier, the winter session of the Parliament was marred by ruckus and the session ended prematurely. There was tremendous uproar seen in the Rajya Sabha on the issue of the skirmish between the soldiers of India and China in Tawang. During this, the opposition parties walked out of the House. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge had also called a meeting of opposition parties on this issue.
