India’s air defence systems successfully foiled multiple aerial attacks launched by Pakistan on Thursday night.
The attacks, involving drones and missiles, targeted Jammu and several military stations along the western border.
The strikes triggered blackouts and sirens in parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
Authorities urged citizens to stay indoors as emergency protocols were activated.
Indian air defences intercepted eight missiles near Jammu and neutralised several drones near the Jammu airport.
The Integrated Defence Staff confirmed no damage to military stations in Jammu, Udhampur, or Pathankot.
“Pakistan targeted Military Stations of Jammu, Pathankot and Udhampur. Threats were neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic means,” said IDS in a statement.
Power outages occurred at the Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi and in Srinagar as a security measure.
Indian forces also shot down a Pakistan Air Force F-16 fighter jet with a surface-to-air missile.
The aircraft, which took off from Sargodha air base, was hit near its origin, sources said.
Earlier in the day, Pakistan had attempted to target 15 Indian cities.
These included Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Chandigarh. India’s integrated counter-UAS grid intercepted and neutralised all threats.
Debris confirmed that drones and missiles came from Pakistani territory.
India responded with swift airstrikes, destroying several Pakistani air defence systems, including a key post in Lahore.
Pakistan responded with shelling in Kupwara, Uri, Rajouri, and other areas, killing 16 civilians. Indian forces retaliated proportionately.
Earlier, under Operation Sindoor, India had hit nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, killing about 100 militants.
