What is the purpose of Aditya L1?
The Aditya-L1 spacecraft, which is carrying out India’s first mission to study the Sun, is “healthy” and “on its way to Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 1 (L1),” which is roughly 1.5 million kilometers from the Earth, according to a statement released on Sunday by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The space agency also stated that on October 6, the spacecraft successfully carried out a trajectory correction maneuver (TCM) for around 16 seconds.
The trajectory that was assessed after tracking the Trans-Lagrangean Point 1 Insertion (TL1I) maneuver carried out on September 19, 2023, needs to be corrected. The ISRO stated on X, formerly known as Twitter, that TCM “ensures the spacecraft is on its intended path towards the Halo orbit insertion around L1.”
According to ISRO, the Aditya-L1 spacecraft “continues to move ahead, and the magnetometer will be turned on again within a few days.”
The spacecraft has so far completed a Trans-Lagrangean Point 1 Insertion (TL1I) maneuver and four earthbound maneuvers without incident. Additionally, the spacecraft has successfully left Earth’s gravitational field.

What is the purpose of Aditya L1?
On September 2, ISRO launched the Aditya-L1 spacecraft from the Sriharikota spaceport in Andhra Pradesh, a few days after the successful Chandrayaan 3 mission. The spacecraft is intended to perform in-situ studies of the solar wind at L1 (the Sun-Earth Lagrangian point) as well as remote observations of the solar corona. Scientists could analyze the behavior of the particles that surround the Earth with the help of this data.
