On Saturday, activists from the Hindu Sena erected a poster reading “Ayodhya Marg” over the Babar Road sign in Delhi. The poster’s images and videos went viral on social media. Officials have since taken down the poster.
This incident occurred just two days before the Ayodhya Ram Mandir’s “Pran Pratishtha,” or consecration ritual. According to news agency PTI, a representative of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) stated that they will report the incident to the police.
For years, the Hindu Sena has been calling for a name change for Babar Road. The road’s signboard was darkened and stickers reading “Hindu Sena” were put on it by the group’s workers in 2019.
In the view of consecration ceremony on January 22, slogans such as “Shubh Ghadi Aayi,” “Taiyar hai Ayodhya dham, virajenge Shree Ram,” and “Ram fir lautenge” have been pasted all around Ayodhya on posters and hoardings.
There’s a strong religious vibe across the entire city of Ayodhya, especially with the consecration event just two days away. The ‘Ramjanmabhoomi’ branch is a new PSU bank branch that opened in a building near the Ram Path here on Thursday. Ramjanmabhoomi Path is the renamed route that skirts its way off Ram Path, on the way to the Ram temple site.
