During the Newborn Care Week, conducted by the Adani Foundation’s Fortune Nutrition Project in urban slums of Varanasi, encompassing areas like Nakki Ghat, Koniya, Nevada, Badi Ghaibi, Sarai Surjan, Lalapura, and more, a comprehensive series of activities unfolded. Rallies, group meetings, and family counseling sessions were orchestrated throughout the week, aiming to enlighten the community on the critical aspects of newborn care.
Under the supervision of the Nutrition Supporter, the program incorporated insights from the Nutrition Counselor. Topics covered included Kangaroo Mother Care, strategies to shield infants from cold, the significance of breastfeeding, and the importance of vaccinations in ensuring a healthy start for newborns.
The culmination of the week saw awareness rallies taking place in Nakki Ghat and Koniya settlements. Nutrition Officer Mamta Yadav took center stage to delve into the profound importance of newborn care, especially for lactating mothers.
Present at the occasion were Nutrition Assistant Officer Sujata Yadav and Jugul Keshari, alongside dedicated Anganwadi workers such as Saroja Devi, Aarti Devi, Meena Devi, and Nutrition Counselors Renu Kumari, Sonalika Singh, Rita Verma, Soni Maurya, Preeti Maurya, Bindu Patel, and others, collectively contributing to the dissemination of crucial information and support within the community.
