The National Investigation Agency(NIA) arrested Soyab from Faridabad for harbouring terrorist Umar Un Nabi.
Soyab, identified as a Dhauj resident, provided logistical support critical to executing the November 10 Red Fort car bombing. The blast killed several people and injured many others, leaving authorities scrambling to secure the capital’s public areas.
Before Soyab’s arrest, NIA detained six close aides of Umar as part of ongoing terror investigations nationwide.
The agency confirmed investigations operate under case number RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI, pursuing multiple leads to identify other network members.
Coordinated searches across states involve local police, aiming to apprehend all participants linked to the larger terror network.
Interrogation of arrested suspects revealed chilling details about Umar’s methods and his meticulous IED preparation routines. Investigators said Umar maintained a “mobile workstation” suitcase containing chemicals, bomb-making tools, and containers wherever he travelled.
Umar, a medical professional at Faridabad’s Al-Falah University, conducted chemical tests in his campus room before assembling IEDs.
Arrested associate Dr Muzamil Shakeel confirmed that Umar experimented with substances later used in constructing the final explosive device.
NDTV reports cited that Umar tested chemical reactions in controlled quantities, corroborated by recovered bomb-making materials from his suitcase.
Investigators said Umar transported a half-completed IED inside the Hyundai i20 used for the suicide bombing attack.
He allegedly combined acetone, powdered sugar, and urea to complete the explosive mixture shortly before detonating the device.
Initially, the terror module aimed to move explosives to Jammu and Kashmir, but that plan failed, sources revealed. Umar began sourcing urea from the Nuh-Mewat region, adapting materials for his improvised explosive device just before the attack.
Interrogators said Umar called himself ’emir’ of the module, knowing nine languages and leading with intelligence and authority. The NIA continues pursuing leads relentlessly, coordinating with authorities to dismantle the terror module and prevent further attacks.
Investigators emphasised that community vigilance, intelligence sharing, and proactive policing remain critical to counter such evolving terror threats.
