The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), spearheaded by the BJP and aiming for a prominent role in Kerala politics, initiated its campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls with a massive foot march in the northernmost district on Saturday.
The inaugural ceremony took place at Thalippadupu ground, drawing hundreds of party workers and leaders. The state-wide march, led by BJP Kerala unit chief K Surendran, witnessed the presence of prominent leaders such as Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, NDA state convenor Thushar Vellapally, and NDA vice-president P K Krishnadas.
Chief Minister Sawant expressed confidence in a transformative outcome in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, stating that the “lotus will bloom in the state.” Describing the foot march as a “parivartan yatra” (journey of change), he emphasized the need to oust the allegedly corrupt Left government in the state.

Surendran, during his speech, asserted the BJP-NDA’s confidence in winning seats and returning to power at the national level. He criticized the ruling CPI(M) and opposition Congress, characterizing the BJP as the sole political front with the certainty of victory in the upcoming polls.
The “NDA Kerala Padayatra” aims to expose alleged corruption and anti-people policies of the ruling fronts, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives highlighted as efforts to ensure the well-being of the country’s population.
The foot march is scheduled to pass through various Lok Sabha constituencies in different districts, concluding in Palakkad on February 27. During the journey, Surendran will engage with religious, social, and cultural leaders and beneficiaries of Central schemes.

The campaign seeks support from a state traditionally dominated by opposition parties before the Lok Sabha polls. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to inaugurate the march in Thiruvananthapuram, with at least 25,000 participants in each constituency.
The initiative includes the exhibition of tableaux showcasing Modi government schemes and the release of the NDA’s development document. The march follows Prime Minister Modi’s recent visits to the state, where he held massive road shows and addressed key issues, setting the stage for heightened enthusiasm among party workers. Despite historical challenges, the BJP aims to make a significant impact in Kerala’s political landscape.
