National Voters’ Day 2024: PM Modi Addresses First Time Voters, Says ‘You Have To Defeat PARIVARWADI Parties’

Every year on January 25, India marks National Voters’ Day, a significant occasion to encourage active participation in the democratic process. This day holds immense importance, reminding citizens of their fundamental right to vote and its crucial role in shaping the nation’s future. Election Commission of India (ECI) was established on 25 January, 1950.

Significance of ECI

The sacred duty of holding credible, impartial, and free elections throughout the nation has been placed on the shoulders of the ECI, an independent constitutional organization. Since its establishment, the ECI has been essential in maintaining India’s democratic values and making sure that every citizen’s voice is heard.

Importance of National Voters Day This Year

National Voters’ Day holds huge importance this year because India is commemorating the 75th anniversary of its historic 1951–1952 general elections. The theme for National Voter Day  2024 is ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure,’ which highlights the importance of each vote in preserving the democratic foundation of the country.

In India, National Voters Day holds significance because choosing the best leaders would determine the country’s destiny. Imagine what would happen if we don’t take initiative and select the best leaders: the nation’s growth and development might be slowed down, which would have an impact on its citizens.

What did PM Modi say on the occasion?

While addressing the first-time voters across the country on National Voters’ Day, PM said, “I welcome the over 5000 first-time voters from across the country who have gathered to listen to PM Modi. We have confidence that we will become a developed and self-reliant nation. On this day, to be among first-time voters fills me with energy. You have now become the most important part of the democratic process. In the next 25 years, you have to determine both the future of Bharat and your own. When there is a majority government in the country, then there is clarity in policies and decisions. When I meet major world leaders, it is not I alone who meets them but 140 crore Indians are with me. Today, the Indian passport is seen with pride across the world. Today, people talk about credibility, not corruption; success stories, not scams. Earlier India was on the list of fragile five economies. But today, Bharat is the fifth largest economy in the world. In the coming years, India will become the top three economies in the world.”
