Nation Honors Atal Bihari Vajpayee On Death Anniversary

President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar led the tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the anniversary of his death, paying their respects at his memorial, ‘Sadaiv Atal’, in the capital on Friday.

Union Ministers, NDA leaders, and other dignitaries also gathered to honor Vajpayee’s memory. Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute on social media platform X, praising Vajpayee’s commitment to national interests and his role in strengthening India’s strategic and economic foundations. “Atal ji will always be remembered for his dedication to political correctness and national loyalty. He popularized the ideology of national interest and made significant contributions as Prime Minister. My deepest respects to Bharat Ratna Atal ji on his death anniversary,” Shah wrote.

Nitin Gadkari

Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari also shared his thoughts on X, describing Vajpayee as a source of inspiration for millions. “Former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji was a guiding light for the country’s workers. His life, mark by ideology and principles, and dedication to the nation. Today, we salute him on his memorial day,” Gadkari stated.

Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his reverence for Vajpayee, calling him an ideal leader and a beacon of good governance. “Tribute to Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, an exemplar of public service and a source of inspiration. His commitment to ‘Nation First’ continues to guide us all. The memory of Atal ji will remain cherished in our hearts,” CM Yogi posted on X.

Rajnath Singh

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid their respects at the memorial. Singh wrote, “On the death anniversary of Former Prime Minister Atal ji, I offer my heartfelt tributes.”

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away in 2018, was a significant figure in Indian politics. Born in Gwalior in 1924, he was a leading member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and further became the first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete a full term in office. Vajpayee served as Prime Minister twice, from May 16 to June 1, 1996, and from March 19, 1998, to May 22, 2004. He was also the External Affairs Minister in the Morarji Desai cabinet from 1977 to 1979. Known for his eloquence and poetic prowess, Vajpayee was widely admired across the political spectrum.
