India’s largest commercial port, Mundra Port, has received a special postage stamp to mark its silver jubilee year. Released on World Post Day, this commemorative stamp honors Mundra Port’s significant socio-economic contributions over the past 25 years and its rise as a global maritime hub.
Stamp Unveiling Ceremony
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel unveiled the stamp in a ceremony attended by key figures, including Rajesh Adani, Managing Director of Adani Enterprises Limited, and Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited. Senior officials from India Post also participated in the event.
Transformation of Mundra Port
Gautam Adani built and expanded Mundra Port on previously barren land, transforming it into a major commercial hub and a vital sea gateway for India.

Under the management of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited, the port has evolved from a single jetty into a global shipping center, effectively connecting India to international markets and serving a significant portion of the country’s trade needs.
Economic Impact
Mundra Port has emerged as an essential vehicle for economic growth in both Gujarat and India. Since its inception in 1998, it has contributed over Rs 2.25 lakh crore to state and national revenues. Additionally, the port has generated more than 7.5 crore jobs and attracted investments exceeding Rs 70,000 crore.
Currently, Mundra Port handles approximately 11% of India’s maritime cargo and 33% of the nation’s container traffic. Through the Adani Foundation, its community initiatives have positively impacted 61 villages, benefiting over 3.5 lakh individuals.

Karan Adani expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “This commemorative stamp not only symbolizes the legacy of Mundra Port but also our trusted partnership with the people of Gujarat and the supportive policies of the State Government.”
Details of the Commemorative Stamp
The stamp, titled “25 Years of Progress – Mundra Port,” features a visual representation of the port’s remarkable transformation. A total of 5,000 stamp sheets, comprising 60,000 stamps, have been printed at the Security Printing Press in Hyderabad and will be available for purchase on the India Post e-portal.
Moreover, India Post has launched a special cover and stamp cancellation process. A copy of the stamp sheet will permanently adorn the National Philatelic Museum in New Delhi, ensuring that Mundra Port’s legacy is celebrated for years to come.
