Mumbai Rainfall causing traffic bottlenecks

On Thursday, parts of Thane district in Maharashtra were battered by heavy rain. As a result of water-logging, which also hampered traffic flow on two major roads, many families were forced to leave many residential areas for safety. While fishing in the midst of heavy downpours in Kalwa town in Thane district, a 32-year-old man was swept away in a swollen nullah beside a creek.

According to officials, numerous low-lying districts in Vasai and Virar in Palghar district and Bhiwandi and Mira Bhayandar in Thane district were submerged as a result of the nonstop rain. On Thursday, there was significant rain in Mumbai as well, which caused traffic bottlenecks on many arterial roads, waterlogging in certain places, and delays in the suburban train services of both the Western and Central Railways.
