The North East Delhi MP Sports Festival, organised on the initiative of BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, has captured the attention of sports lovers in the national capital.
On the fourth day of the festival, a Lok Sabha-level cricket competition was formally inaugurated at Namo Ground (DDA Ground) near Khajuri Chowk, marking a major highlight of the event.
Union Minister of State for Urban Development Tokhan Sahu inaugurated the cricket tournament, while Delhi Minister for Culture, Tourism and Law Kapil Mishra was present as a special guest, underscoring strong support from both the Centre and the Delhi government.
The primary objective of the MP Sports Festival is to encourage youth participation in sports, provide a platform for emerging talent and promote a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
Players from various teams representing the Lok Sabha constituency are participating in the competition, offering regional talent an opportunity to showcase their skills.
The cricket tournament has generated considerable enthusiasm among players and spectators alike, reflecting the growing interest in organised sports at the community level.
Manoj Tiwari’s Vision for Youth and Sports
The festival is being led by Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament from North East Delhi, who has consistently played an active role in promoting sports and youth development in the region.
Through the MP Sports Festival, he has sought to position sports as a medium for social unity, positive energy and community engagement.
Addressing the gathering, Manoj Tiwari said that sports form an essential part of life. He emphasised that participation in sports helps inculcate values such as discipline, honesty, transparency and mutual respect.
He also noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been giving special emphasis to sports to promote youth health, an ideal lifestyle and positive conduct, recognising the crucial role young people play in the nation’s development.
The organisers have put robust security and logistical arrangements in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament. They have carefully organised seating for spectators, facilities for players and final preparations of the playing field.
According to the organisers, the festival will motivate players and strengthen discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship among local youth.
Under the MP Sports Festival, organisers will host several other sporting competitions in the coming days.
These initiatives will further give a fresh identity to sports culture in North East Delhi and inspire more young people to actively participate in sports.
