Rashtrapati Bhavan has transformed one of its historic corridors into the Param Vir Dirgha, a gallery dedicated to India’s 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees.
Previously adorned with portraits of British Aides-de-Camp (ADCs), the corridor now pays tribute to extraordinary acts of courage and supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
This transformation reflects India’s ongoing effort to reclaim and celebrate its own history, turning spaces once linked to colonial administration into sites of national pride.
President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the gallery on Vijay Diwas, 16 December 2025, in a ceremony that highlighted the valour and resilience of India’s armed forces.
The event witnessed more than 50 rounds of applause during the President’s address, signalling the nation’s deep respect for the soldiers whose heroism the gallery immortalises.
The inauguration coincided with Vijay Diwas, commemorating India’s victory in the 1971 war and the sacrifices that secured the nation’s honour and security.
