In response to the widespread destruction caused by heavy rainfall across several states, Union HM Amit Shah on Friday reached out to the Chief Ministers of Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh.
He assured them of the Central government’s full support in relief and rescue operations.
Taking to the social media platform X, Shah stated, “In the wake of heavy rainfall in different parts of the nation, I spoke with the chief ministers of Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Chhattisgarh.”

Centre Deploys NDRF Teams, Offers Reinforcements
Shah confirmed that the Central government is actively coordinating with the affected states.
He said the Centre has already deployed adequate National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and stands ready to dispatch more reinforcements if necessary.
“The Central government is providing all necessary relief and rescue assistance,” he said. “We are continuously monitoring the situation and are ready to offer any additional help required.”
Uttarakhand CM thanks the centre for support
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude to Amit Shah for his proactive response.
Uttarakhand CM Dhami said the Home Minister had taken detailed stock of the rain-induced challenges in disaster-prone regions, including Shri Kedarnath Dham.
He added that Shah assured the swift deployment of NDRF and ITBP teams to ensure the Char Dham Yatra continues without disruption.
“I thank the Home Minister for his sensitive and compassionate leadership during this difficult time,” said Dhami.
Himachal’s Mandi district suffers devastation
In Himachal Pradesh, Mandi district experienced severe damage due to flash floods and cloudbursts.
The municipal areas of Karsog and Dharampur were particularly affected.
Flash floods swept away the old market in Karsog, damaged homes near riverbanks, and left several people stranded.
One fatality was reported.
Jharkhand faces widespread waterlogging, and house collapses
Torrential rain in Jharkhand disrupted daily life in urban centres such as Ranchi, Ramgarh, Latehar, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Bokaro, and Giridih.
Floodwaters entered homes in low-lying areas, and the state witnessed multiple incidents of house collapses and drownings in rivers and reservoirs.
In Gujarat, heavy rains since Thursday have triggered flash floods and widespread waterlogging across southern and central regions. Authorities evacuated over 1,060 people across four districts.
According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), 101 talukas received rainfall, with 30 recording 1 to 7 inches.
Seven inches of rainfall lashed Vapi in Valsad district, making it the worst-hit area, while Pardi and Kaprada followed with 5.25 inches and 5 inches, respectively.
The Home Minister reiterated the Central government’s commitment to standing with the affected states during this crisis.
Relief and rescue operations remain ongoing, with emergency agencies working around the clock to address the monsoon’s impact.
