BSP Supremo Mayawati on Sunday reinstated nephew as her political heir after removing him from a key designation a month ago. Akash Anand will handle the responsibilities of BSP’s national Coordinator once again.
During the Lok Sabha elections, Mayawati had expelled Akasha saying he decision would stand “until he becomes mature.”
However, Mayawati has also named Akash among the star campaigners for the upcoming Uttarakhand Assembly elections.

Mayawati decided to fire Akash Anand after he received criticism for using harsh language throughout his campaign. When he referred to the Union administration as a terrorist government, a police complaint was filed against him in Sitapur.
During an election rally in Sitapur, Akash Anand had said, “This government is a bulldozer government and a government of traitors. The party that leaves its youth hungry and enslaves its elderly is a terrorist government. Taliban runs such a government in Afghanistan.”
In addition to Anand, Sitapur Police also filed cases against BSP candidates Mahendra Yadav, Shyam Awasthi, and Akshay Kalra, as well as rally coordinator Vikas Rajvanshi.
The BSP chief convened a conference on Sunday to discuss the party’s loss in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024.
The primary topic of discussion during the meeting, was why the party did not secure even one seat in the nation’s general elections.
Additionally, how to make the upcoming 2027 Assembly elections better was discussed.
Mayawati made her decision to bring back Akash Anand known during this meeting.
Paty’s cadre had begun to root for Anand after the disappointing performance of BSP in Lok Sabha.
