Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Summons Patna DM and SSP Delhi Over Laticharge On BJP Leaders

Over the lathicharge of BJP leaders during a protest on July 13, Lok Sabha Speaker summoned Chandrashekhar Singh, Patna District Magistrate and SP Rajeev Mishra. The saffron party leaders protested against the posting of teachers in state.

The summons were issued after a BJP Lok Sabha MP filed a complaint citing that a conspiracy to kill him was being brewed during the lathicharge by Patna police. In the incident, Janardan was severely injured and had to undergo medical treatment for many days. He even told the Lok Sabha speaker that the attack on him was fatal after which Om Birla summoned both Delhi SSP and Patna District Magistrate.

As police lathicharged the protestors while holding a Vidhan Sabha March, BJP leader, Vijay Kumar Singh died at Dakbangla Chauraha amid ongoing protests. He was rushed to hospital but doctors declared him brought dead. The police personnel also used water cannons and even fired water canons to disperse the crowd.

As per ANI, Former Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Modi said, “It is so unfortunate that one of our party workers died due to a lathi charge by the police. He died on the way to the hospital. We will lodge murder charges against the police. Nitish Kumar is responsible for all this.”

BJP leader JP Nadda tweeted, “The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) government is attacking democracy in order to protect the fortress of corruption. The chief minister of Bihar has forgotten his own morality to save the person who is facing charges.”

Bihar Education Department has issued a notice banning leaves by education department officials for the next week. As per the order, all the leaves of district education officers and district program officers remain suspended. However, in the education department officials have to avail leave from Deputy Secretary KK Pathak in very extreme situations.
