Lakhimpur Worst Hit In Assam Floods, Water Level Reaches Above Danger Mark

According to the daily report of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), over 5,000 more people have been impacted by the devastating floods in Assam over the past 24 hours, bringing the total affected population to over 34,000 across seven districts in the state.

Over 3,000 kids are among the total impacted population, according to the ASDMA bulletin. The Lakhimpur district is most severely impacted. Over 23,000 residents of the district have already been impacted by the first wave of flood. In addition, Biswanath, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Tamulpur, and Udalguri,  are six other impacted districts.

Storms and rain have persisted throughout the state, uprooting trees and damaging homes and other buildings. At Chaygaon in the Kamrup district, uprooted trees blocked the national highway, and several homes were damaged after numerous trees fell during Thursday night’s storm.

Water level had risen to 85.62 metres

According to the daily report of the Central Water Commission (CWC), the Brahmaputra river at Nimatighat in the Jorhat district of upper Assam continued to flow above the danger threshold on Friday. The water level had risen to 85.62 metres, which is 0.08 metres over the danger line.
