Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara announced on Monday that the Congress government plans to intensify its efforts against illegal immigrants residing in the state. In a statement, Parameshwara assured that measures will be taken to deport individuals who have entered the country illegally.
Responding to concerns about Bengaluru becoming a refuge for illegal immigrants, particularly from Bangladesh, Parameshwara emphasized that local authorities are actively engaged in monitoring and addressing this issue. “Regardless of whether the immigrants come from Bangladesh, African nations, or elsewhere, we are committed to taking action,” he said. “We will coordinate with the embassies and high commissions of their respective countries to facilitate their deportation once those nations give their consent.”

Parameshwara highlighted recent actions taken by the state, including the deportation of 150 individuals involved in narcotics cases, many of whom were from Bangladesh. “There have been instances where we’ve directly taken these individuals to the Bangladesh border for deportation,” he noted.
The Home Minister also addressed the issue of illegal documents, stating that authorities are on high alert for individuals using falsified papers. “Those who attempt to use fake documents will be caught and dealt with accordingly,” Parameshwara asserted.
Regarding the ongoing drug problem affecting the youth, Parameshwara outlined the government’s approach to combating this issue. “The police are employing various strategies to address the drug menace,” he said. “We have launched a comprehensive campaign that includes school and college visits to raise awareness. Immediate action will be taken against anyone involved in drug-related activities. This drive is ongoing and continuous.”
Parameshwara’s comments underscore the state’s commitment to maintaining security and addressing illegal immigration and drug-related issues effectively.
