The Allahabad High Court is set to deliver its verdict today on the criminal appeal filed by Afzal Ansari, the Samajwadi Party (SP) Member of Parliament from Ghazipur. The court’s decision will be crucial in determining the future of Ansari, who is currently serving a four-year sentence.

On April 29, 2023, Ansari convict in a gangster case and sentenced to four years in prison by the Special MP-MLA Court in Ghazipur. Following the conviction, Ansari has petitioned for the cancellation of his sentence, seeking to overturn the court’s decision.

On July 4, 2024, the Allahabad High Court had reserved its ruling after completing the hearing of the case. The case has garnered significant attention due to its implications for Ansari’s political career.
