Today, the Dwarka campus of IP University saw the inauguration of the public campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,’ aimed at promoting tree plantation. The initiative, launched under the guidance of the university’s NSS and NCC cells, witnessed the participation of approximately 500 students and staff members. Each participant contributed by planting a tree on the campus.
Prof. Varun Joshi, head of the NCC and NSS cells, highlighted the active involvement of around 300 volunteers from these units in the campaign.
University Vice Chancellor Padmashree Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma emphasized the global struggle with environmental change and the crucial role trees play in mitigating this crisis. He encouraged that if every individual plants at least one tree, it could significantly bolster the campaign and provide relief from environmental issues.

University Registrar Dr. Kamal Pathak remarked on the importance of collective effort in such public-focused campaigns, noting that even a small start can grow into a substantial initiative with widespread participation.
This campaign was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day, June 5, 2024. The goal is to plant 140 crore saplings by March 2025.
