PM Modi Flags Off Four Vande Bharat Trains From Varanasi, Emphasises Infrastructure As Key To National Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday flagged off four new Vande Bharat Express trains from Varanasi, underscoring that strong infrastructure remains the cornerstone of national progress.

He told the gathering that modern facilities such as railways and roads naturally drive development wherever they are built.

PM Modi said infrastructure had always played a transformative role in shaping the economic destiny of nations. “When a railway station or road is built, development begins naturally. Farmers gain access to markets, trade expands, and growth follows,” he remarked.

He added that India’s advancement is being propelled by such infrastructure initiatives, reflecting the government’s long-term vision.

The Prime Minister flagged off the Kashi–Khajuraho, Firozpur–Delhi, Lucknow–Saharanpur, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express trains, expanding the network’s reach across regions. With these additions, more than 160 Vande Bharat trains are now operational nationwide.

PM Modi congratulated citizens on this achievement, stating that the NaMo Bharat and Amrit Bharat initiatives are shaping the future of Indian Railways. “Vande Bharat is for the people, by the people, and of the people.

He said that India now proudly builds such trains, which were once considered impossible. He added that they serve as a symbol of the nation’s growing strength.

Linking the initiative to India’s cultural fabric, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of connecting pilgrimage centres such as Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Haridwar, Chitrakoot, and Kurukshetra through Vande Bharat trains. He said this connectivity strengthens the nation’s spiritual unity.

“Pilgrimages in India are sacred journeys that bind the country’s soul. By linking these destinations, we connect our culture, faith, and path to progress,” he added.

PM Modi said the government has improved health services in Varanasi and Prayagraj and pointed out that people had limited access to quality medical care a decade ago. He said the government’s initiatives have transformed healthcare in the region. These improvements ensure that citizens no longer need to travel far for serious treatments, such as cancer care.

The Prime Minister concluded by reaffirming his vision of a modern, connected, and self-reliant India. He emphasised that infrastructure development serves both as a foundation and a catalyst for inclusive growth.
